    Posted: 11 Jun 2009 at 3:43pm

A problem has been identified using the new DeltaV DC/DC Power Supply (VE5009) with the DeltaV Virtual IO Module.  It has been observed that during power failure or cycle the commissioned and online VIM will loose its configuration and enter decommissioned state.

The user must re-commission the Virtual IO Module to its placeholder and re-upload the configuration. This behavior does NOT occur when the DeltaV AC/DC Power Supply (VE5001) or the older model of the DC/DC Power Supply (VE5008) is used.

MYNAH Technologies is working with Emerson’s DeltaV Development team for a solution to this issue.  Until a solution is identified, we recommend that the older DC/DC DeltaV Power Supply (VE5008) be used to prevent this problem. The user can verify if they have the older or newer type of DC/DC Power Supply by looking at assembly part number. The assembly part numbers are imprinted on the label located on the bottom of the Power Supply. KJ1501X1-BC2 is the part number for the older DC/DC Power Supply (VE5008), while KJ1501X1-BC3 is the part number for the new enhanced DC/DC Power Supply (VE5009).

All Virtual IO Module firmware revisions are affected including MiMiC simulation, Ethernet/IP, and ModbusTCP drivers.

New drivers that address this issue are under testing here at MYNAH.  The driver revisions that will be released are:

  • IOD-4101, Modbus TCP/IP - v3.8.5
  • IOD-4102, Ethernet/IP - v3.3.63
We hope to complete testing and and start shipping these new firmware revisions next week.  Instructions on how to get the driver will be posted on this thread and covered in the August 2009 MYNAH ENews.
